Dr. Michael T. Allen

Doctor of Dental Surgery

Dr. Michael T. Allen is a proud native of Thomaston, GA, and continues to call our small city home. He earned his B.S. degree at Valdosta State University. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Emory University. He is currently a member of the Georgia Dental Association and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Allen completed an advanced family dentistry residency at Fort Jackson, right outside of Columbia, SC. During his residency, he underwent specialized training in:

Cosmetic Dentistry
Dental Implants & Extractions
Crowns & Bridgework
Root Canals
Oral Cancer Evaluations
Full & Partial Dentures

After pursuing his education, Dr. Allen climbed the ranks in the army and eventually became a Captain. He spent three years living on an army base in Germany. He lived in Germany during the fall of the Berlin Wall. While in Germany, he worked as a dentist and taught cosmetic dentistry, as well.

After serving in Germany, Dr. Allen returned to his hometown of Thomaston, GA, where he opened his own dental practice. Dr. Allen is married to his wife, Glenda, who can often be seen helping around the office.

Sherry McKissick, RDH

Hygienist

Sherry has 30 years of experience and education in non-surgical periodontal management, oral pathology, and specialized care. In 1986, she graduated from the Medical College of Georgia. Sherry takes pride in offering individualized attention to each patient and adjusting their treatment as their needs change. Her favorite part of her career is building long-lasting relationships with her patients and treating them like family. Sherry is a lifelong resident of Thomaston. She and her husband, Mark, have two children, Christina and Amber, and a grandson, Jensen.

Amber Rakestraw, RDH

Hygienist

Amber joined our practice in 2009 as an insurance and billing specialist and later decided to pursue a career in dental hygiene. She graduated in 2016 from Central Georgia Technical College with an associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene. Amber graduated with a 4.0 GPA, was awarded the Thomas P. Hinman Scholarship, and was inducted into the Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society. Amber takes pride in developing relationships with her patients and encouraging them in their dental health journey. Amber and her husband, Lucas, are lifelong residents of Thomaston. They have two children, Berklei and Brinlei, and a fur baby, Willow.

Holly Smith, RDH

Hygienist

We welcomed Holly to our dental practice in 2006. Prior to that, she worked in Macon and Newnan. Holly graduated from Central Georgia Technical College with an associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene. She was vice president of her class and was the recipient of the Golden Scaler Award. She was also on the Dean’s List each semester.

Yordanka Leal

Dental Assistant

Yordanka has been with our dental family for 11 years. She is originally from Cuba and speaks fluent Spanish and English. Yordanka was a patient before becoming a member of our staff. She has worked with Dr. Allen for a total of 18 years.

Kaye Webb

Dental Assistant

Kaye has been employed with our family dentistry practice since 1999. She has known Dr. Allen since high school, where they played in the high school band together. Kaye enjoys taking care of people in a family environment and seeing the before and after results of their treatment. She was born and raised in Thomaston. She has a husband, Chad, and a daughter, Skyler.

Shirley Banks

Receptionist

Shirley has been with our family since August 2016. She enjoys our focus on family and how Dr. Allen puts family first. Before becoming a member of the staff, she was a longtime patient, which has given her perspective from both sides. She is thrilled to be a part of such a tight-knit family. She has increased her knowledge of dental work through hands-on experience. Shirley is married to Eric Banks. She has two sons and a daughter.

Tina Williamson

Assistant Office Manager

We welcomed Tina Williamson to our practice in 2018. Tina is a native of Thomaston, GA, and has 11 years of experience and training in the field. She has two daughters and a grandson.
